SmartFusion cSoC available in leaded 208-PQFP packages from Microsemi

Microsemi Corporation has announced PQ208, a SmartFusion customizable system-on-chip (cSoC) family is available in a leaded 208-PQFP package, which reduces overall printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing and debugging costs, as it requires fewer PCB layers compared to ball grid array and chip scale packages and is targeting for industrial and military applications such as motor and motion control, gaming machines, solar inverters, military avionics, missiles and weapons.

"Launching the SmartFusion cSoC in 2010 has expanded our customer base, and a percentage of our new customers expressed the need for the PQ208 package," said Rich Kapusta, vice president terrestrial products, SoC Products Group at Microsemi. "We will continue to listen to our customers and provide a robust range of solutions to suit their exact needs-from leading edge, chip scale packaging to traditional leaded packages."

Microsemi explains that the PQ208 features an ARM Cortex-M3 based 32-bit microcontroller with up to 512KB of flash memory, up to 500K gates of field programmable gate array (FPGA) and programmable analog, also boasts 10/100 Ethernet; external memory controller with I2C, SPI and UART interfaces; up to 113 user input/outputs (I/Os) including FPGA; microcontroller GPIO and analog I/O.

Microsemi Corporation has also made available of its cost-optimized SmartFusion customizable system-on-chip (cSoC) device, the A2F060 available in commercial and industrial temperature grades, designed for high volume applications such as motor and motion control, gaming machines, solar inverters, and clinical & imaging medical electronics.

Key features of A2F060 include:

Microcontroller Subsystem:
60,000 system gates, 100 MHz, 125 DMIPS throughput with 128 Kbytes flash and 16 Kbytes SRAM
Dedicated external memory controller, two of each: SPI, UART, 32-bit timers

Programmable Analog:
One 12-bit SAR ADCs with up to 11 channels and 500 Ksps sampling speed including 8-/10-bit modes and sample and hold
One 12-bit sigma-delta DAC with 500 Ksps update rate and two comparators
Two clock conditioning circuits (CCCs) and one integrated analog PLL with phase shift, multiply/divide, and delay capabilities; and input frequency range from 1.5 to 350 MHz
Two bipolar high-voltage monitors (with four input ranges from +/-2.5 V to -11.5/+14 V) with 1 percent accuracy

FPGA Fabric:
350 MHz system performance; 60 K system gates and 36 Kbytes SRAM
Create additional standard interfaces or proprietary interfaces using high speed FPGA I/Os and gates
