Single and dual-channel 14-bit high-speed A/D converters to multimode digital receivers
Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI), has released new single and dual-channel 14-bit high-speed A/D converters to meet the performance and small size requirements of the latest 3G and 4G multi-standard cellular infrastructure equipment such as CDMA2000, WB-CDMA, LTE, TD-SCDMA and multi-carrier GSM. Other applications include battery-powered, hand-held instruments, scopes and portable medical devices.
The AD9648 is a low-power, high-speed, 14-bit dual A/D converter that consumes 102 mW/channel at 125 MSPS (mega samples per second) and features SFDR (spurious-free dynamic range) performance of 91 dBc at 70 MHz with IF sampling frequencies up to 200 MHz, the AD9648 is a good choice for designers looking for a dual high-speed A/D converter to build multimode digital receivers, claims ADI. The AD9648 is pin compatible with many of ADI's 16-, 14-, 12- and 10-bit A/D converters, enabling an easy migration path between 10-bit and 16-bit converters sampling from 20 MSPS to 125 MSPS.
Analog Devices has also released the AD9642 14-bit A/D single-channel converter, with a 5 mm x 5 mm package size -- 30 percent smaller than competing products -- and IF sampling frequencies up to 350 MHz, saves board space and supports wide bandwidths up to 125MHz. It features an SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) of 72.2 dBFS and SFDR of 90 dBc at base band while consuming only 360 mW at 250 MSPS.
The AD9648 and AD9642 A/D converters feature multi-stage, differential pipelined architectures with integrated output-error-correction logic. The AD9648 is available in a 64-lead RoHS-compliant LFCSP, while the AD9642 ships in a 32-lead RoHS-compliant LFCSP package and both are specified over the industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The AD9648 has two external 14-bit outputs that can be set to 1.8-V CMOS or LVDS.
Key features of AD9648 14-bit A/D converter includes:
SNR = 74.5 dBFS at fIN up to 70 MHz at 125 MSPS
ENOB of 11.8 at fIN up to 70 MHz at 125 MSPS (-1.0 dBFS)
SFDR = -91 dBc at fIN up to 70 MHz at 125 MSPS (-1.0 dBFS)
Integrated input buffer
Excellent linearity
DNL = ±0.5 LSB typical
INL = ±1.0 LSB typical
12-bit and 10-bit pin compatible devices include AD9628 and AD9608 high-speed A/D converters
Key features of AD9642 14-bit A/D converter includes:
SNR = 70.9 dBFS at 200 MHz AIN and 250 MSPS
SFDR = 86 dBc at 200 MHz AIN and 250 MSPS
