Synchronous 50-mA, 60-V step-down regulator from TI measures 125 mm2
Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) has introduced TPS54062, a synchronous 50-mA, 60-V SWIFT step-down regulator measuring 125 mm2, which integrates both the high-side and low-side power MOSFETs. TPS54062 is suggested for designing noise-sensitive industrial automation and sensor control, smart meter, telecom, computing and consumer applications.
According to TI, the TPS54062 can withstand high-voltage transients up to 62 V, while maintaining high efficiency across the load and for higher voltage transient protection at 50 mA. The TPS54062 also supports its embedded processor applications, including Stellaris ARM Cortex-M MCUs, C5000 ultra-low power DSPs and ultra-low power MSP430 16-bit MCU-based applications, such as smart meter, building automation and security systems.
The other key features of the TPS54062:
65-V transient protection for specification overhead.
90-percent efficiency at 24 Vin, 5 Vout at 150 kHz.
TPS54062 can be synchronized to a clock via fixed frequency to reduce the noise.
89-uA operating current with a shutdown current of 1.7 uA.
Switching frequency range of 100 to 400 kHz.
wide temperature range of -40 degrees to 150 degrees C
