Non-isolated step down LED driver IC for LED tube and bulbs

Holtek has released new non-isolated universal step down LED light control and driver IC, the HT7L4091. The HT7L4091 is a control chip with cycle by cycle current control, peak current control and constant off-time functions. This IC is suitable for both capacitor and capacitor free designs.

The HT7L4091 includes LED open circuit protection, over temperature protection, ultra-low voltage lock-out and enhanced short circuit protection functions. This device's enhanced short circuit protection feature can protect the circuit even if all LEDs are shorted.

Holtek says with a 5V 6mA output capacity, when used together with Holtek's PIR device and a suitable MCU device, becomes an excellent intelligent illumination solution. Holtek says its low startup current can match with different device power circuits to meet the requirements of low cost and high performance applications.

The HT7L4091 is suitable for general illumination LED light tube applications, LED bulbs as well as for bulletin board backlighting and large size LCD backlight products. In addition to AC power input applications, it is also suitable for a range of other DC/DC converter applications.
