10/100 Ethernet device server allows connecting RS232C serial device to an Ethernet network

Silex Technology America, Inc. has released the Silex SX-520, an RS232C to 10/100 Ethernet Device Server at a price of $99 MSRP.

The SX-520 was designed to take the complexity out of connecting virtually any RS232C serial device to an Ethernet network, making it quick and easy to access, monitor and control devices over the network. Key advantages of device networking include; extending the lifecycle and ROI of legacy equipment, accessing equipment and data remotely, and allowing non-networked devices to communicate with newer networked systems.

SX-520 Specification:
Includes Silex's SX Virtual Link Serial Port Emulation
Industry Standard DB9M RS232C Serial Port
Auto sensing 10/100 RJ45 Ethernet Interface
RFC-2217 automated control of serial rate and control lines
Exclusive Auto Find and Setup Utility

"Connecting serial devices to a network sounds easy, but serial data was never meant to communicate over TCP/IP networks, but the experts at Silex Technology have bridged this gap," said David Smith, President of Silex Technology America. "This is the latest in a long line of successful solutions Silex has brought to market over the past 35 years. We pride ourselves on solving complex connectivity problems in demanding environments."
