Holtek HT16C23/HT16C24 high pixel count I2C Interface LCD Driver
Holtek's HT16C2x device series are RAM mapping LCD drivers, which include an I2C interface. The full device range includes the HT16C22/HT16C22G, HT16C23/HT16C23G, HT16C24/HT16C24G etc., Among these the HT16C22 has been approved and adopted for widespread use by single-phase meter manufacturers, while the HT16C23 and HT16C24 will see applications in the three-phase meter application area having larger pixel count capabilities.
Functions integrated into the device series include internal display memory, RC oscillator, wide operating voltage of 2.4V~5.5V and two frame scanning frequencies of 80Hz or 160Hz. The VLCD voltage can be adjusted by an external resistor but additionally also offers a 16-level internal VLCD voltage, which is adjusted using instructions. A full screen flickering function is provided for which there is a choice of three selectable frequencies. By incorporating an internal I2C interface, data transmission between the HT16C2x devices and the controlling master device requires only two signal lines which greatly lowers the need for extra components, simplifies routing and reduces overall system costs.
The HT16C22, with 4 Commons x 44 Segments, is supplied in 48-pin LQFP and 52-pin QFP packages. The HT16C23, with 4 Commons x 56 Segments or 8 Commons x 52 Segments is supplied in 48-pin LQFP and 64-pin LQFP packages. The HT16C24, with 4 Commons x 72 Segments, 8 Commons x 64 Segments or 16 Commons x 60 Segments is supplied in 80-pin LQFP packages. All three types offer a Gold Bump Die for COG applications.
In addition to electric meter applications, the devices in the HT16C2x series are also suitable for use in applications such as home appliances, car peripherals, consumer products, industrial metering, water metering, gas metering and similar applications.
