New thermal processing equipment for solar PV manufacturing

BTU International is debuting new thermal processing equipment at the upcoming 4th International Power generation Expo, being held March 2-4, 2011 at the Tokyo Big Sight in Japan.

BTU's new TRITAN dual-lane metallization firing system features increased throughput at 3600 wafers per hour, an edge support transport system, and a temperature spike faster than 3 seconds. The 90 MW metallization firing system also features BTU's TriSpeed technology, with temperature ramp rates up to 200ºC per second without compromising the drying and cooling sections of the profile. The three-belt, three-speed system is said to provide revolutionary control of profile development.

BTU also feature its Meridian in-line diffusion system. BTU says this system is the industry's most successful, market leading in-line diffusion system with well over 2 GW in customer commitments.

BTU International has also announced that its cumulative shipments for equipment used in firing of metallization for silicon photovoltaics have exceeded 5GW.
