Reference design and kit for occupancy/motion based lighting control

Zilog, has introduced new design kit for designing systems with human or any such motion detection ability. The motion detection kit can be used for turning on lights whenever a moving object enters the area. Example: light in the corridors getting on when any person moves or walks.

The kit is based on Zilog's ZMOTION MCUs are integrated with motion detection algorithms combined with a selection of lenses and pyroelectric sensors for a range of applications.

The other key features of this kit are:
1. Provide with optimized configuration parameters for the ZMOTION MCU for each lens/sensor.

2. Offered with the ZMOTION MCU as "stand alone" or bundled with combinations of 10 different lenses and PIR sensors.

3. The applications include customer detection, energy management, occupancy, and lighting control applications.

4. Kits are provided with NCL-10IL and the NCL-3B, the small form factor circular lenses that clip directly on to the pyroelectric sensor eliminating the need for any mechanical lens holder designs. Both are suitable for entry and proximity sensing applications.
5. The NCL-10IL provides a wider coverage (70 Degrees) than the more narrowly focused NCL-3B (40 Degrees). The lenses are physically the same size allowing them to be interchanged to select the solution that best fits the requirement.

The motion detection helps in saving energy by turning on the lamps or any such power consuming systems only when needed and the sensors can be used in safety and security applications.
