3x3mm QFN packaged DC/DC converter for FPGA/DSP systems deliver 6 Amps
Texas Instruments has launched a new 6-A DC/DC converter IC TPS54618 with two integrated 12-milliohm FETs provides 95-percent efficiency and low operating current to 2.95-V to 6-V point-of-load designs used in DSP- and FPGA-based communications, test and medical equipment.
TI says TPS54618 is 30-percent smaller than other 6-A devices its packed in 3mm x3mm QFN package. The integrated converter employs current mode control with simple external compensation and supports use of small ceramic capacitors. TPS54618 is pin-to- pin compatible with other same family DC/DC converters from TI such as the 3-A, 2-MHz TPS54318.
The other features include:
Wide switching frequency range (200 kHz to 2 MHz)
Synchronized switching frequency from a master clock eliminates beat noise in sensitive data acquisition circuitry.
