LSI's processors in Telrad gateway are MEF Compliant

LSI Corporation has announced that its Link Layer Processor (LLP) and Advanced PayloadPlus (APP) processors have achieved compliance with three Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) specifications. The LSI products are integrated into the Telrad TAG-11 gateway, which recently underwent testing by Iometrix, the networking industry's preeminent testing authority, to earn MEF certification in the MEF 9, 14 and 18 specifications.

LSI says it has the distinction of being among a select number of semiconductor companies that can claim MEF certification in multiple MEF specifications. Achieving these certifications is important to network equipment manufacturers like Telrad because it validates the functionality and reliability of components which are critical in achieving overall performance levels for their products, adds LSI.

"We are committed to delivering solutions that will give our direct customers and service providers assurance of interoperability in a real network with other equipment that has T1/E1 over Ethernet interfaces," said Shane Gunning, multiservice marketing director, Networking Components Division, LSI. "Certification of the LSI Link Layer Processor and Advanced PayloadPlus family of processors provides another level of assurance that our products can deliver the performance to power today's sophisticated and demanding networks."

"The LSI components played a vital role in achieving MEF certification for our TAG-11," said Shai Yanai, executive vice president for Product Solutions, Telrad. "This industry recognition is a mark of distinction that adds value and sets the TAG-11 apart from our competitors."
