Kits supporting color 5.7" VGA (640 x 480) or 6.2" (640 x 240) LCDs from Kyocera

Amulet Technologies has launched two plug & play LCD Evaluator Kits for TFT LCD displays from Kyocera. Amulet and Kyocera Industrial Ceramics Corporation (KICC) have signed a partnership agreement as part of Amulet's LCD Evaluator Program, where it provide plug & play graphical user interface (GUI) reference designs for individual LCD displays from multiple LCD vendors.

The two Kyocera LCD Evaluator Kits announced today (EVK-KA-TCG057VGLBL-C50) & (EVK-KA-TCG062HVLBC-G20) support either a color 5.7" VGA (640 x 480) or 6.2" (640 x 240) Kyocera display. Both kits include all of the hardware and software required to turn an LCD display into a graphical user interface, including Amulet's controller board powered by Amulet's GEM Graphical OS Chip for color displays, an integrated evaluation board (EVB) optimized for a specific display, USB cable, stylus and a 30-day trial license of GEMstudio.

"Prior to the implementation of the Amulet program, designers could not power up a sample display, much less evaluate it, without spending months designing a new printed circuit board and software. With our kits, Kyocera displays can be powered up within a few minutes. A production-ready user interface can be designed in as fast as two weeks using GEMstudio™. We are excited that Kyocera's clients are able to shorten the typical six to twelve month LCD evaluation and GUI design process to as little as a few weeks," stated Jim Todd, Amulet's Sales Director.

Designers can purchase kits in conjunction with a specific Kyocera LCD directly from Amulet Technologies. 5.7" LCD Evaluator Kits are available now for $199 each. 6.2" LCD Evaluator Kits will be available January 2011.
