Hot-swap controller and power monitor from Analog Devices for 2-20V input supplies
Analog Devices, Inc. has launched the ADM1275 hot-swap controller and power monitor for 2-20V input supplies. The new controller/monitor provides 0.7% current sense accuracy with 20 mV insertion loss, better ratings compared to similar devices. The ADM1275 limits inrush current during power up and enables faster shutdown during over current situation. Over and under voltage monitoring of the back plane voltage ensures that circuit boards only operate when the backplane voltage is within specification. The new device also features current and voltage readback via an integrated 12- bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC), communicated through a PMBus interface.
"With 0.7% current sense accuracy and only 20 mV insertion loss when compared to alternative solutions that only provide ± 5.1% current sense accuracy with 20 mV insertion loss, ADI offers the highest performance available," said Nigel Brooke, Product Marketing Manager, Power Management Technology Group, Analog Devices. "When you combine <300ns response time to 'Short Circuit', more accurate measurements of incoming power and greater circuit board protection, power system designers can offer safer, more intelligent, and more reliable systems that reduce power consumption and increase system efficiency."
