New MHL transmitters from Silicon Image for power sensitive mobile devices

Silicon Image has made available the SiI9232 RGB-to-MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) transmitter designed for power-sensitive mobile devices such as mobile phones, digital cameras, portable media players, tablets, and HD camcorders.

"Today's mobile devices deliver advanced multimedia entertainment including premium movies, captured video and photos, and Internet content, all in pristine digital HD formats, making them an ideal choice for consumers who want their entertainment at any time, any place," said David Kuo, director of product marketing at Silicon Image, Inc. "However, the quality of the entertainment experience can be limited by the display on the mobile device. Consumers want a mobile solution that delivers the ultimate HD experience on the big screen. The SiI9232 MHL transmitter was created with this in mind, enabling the design of a cost-effective and low-pin-count HD video output for mobile devices."

The SiI9232 MHL-enabled transmitter also delivers the following features:
--Multiple RGB input formats
--MHL-compliant output up to 1080p@24/30 Hz
--HDCP 1.2 support
--Pin-compatible, non-HDCP version available (SiI9236)

Silicon Image has also unveiled intellectual property (IP) cores that support the MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) standard

Silicon Image's family of IP cores includes a broad range of HDMI technology solutions, Serial ATA (SATA) storage, RAID controller, image signal processor (ISP) camera IP up to 18 megapixels and H.264, MPEG-1/2 and VC-1 video decoders.
