Automotive engine's oil and coolant temperature sensor from TDK-EPC

TDK-EPC has unveiled a lightweight all-plastic media temperature sensor from EPCOS for the temperature measurement of motor oil or coolant in engine management systems. TDK-EPC claims that the all-plastic construction of the new B58101A802A sensor is 50 percent lighter and offers a tighter seal than conventional metal designs. The advantages include significant improvement in vibration, a longer lifetime, and simplified recycling at the end of the life cycle says TDK-EPC. The plastic housing is designed to offer high thermal conductivity for quick sensing of temperature change in engine oil/coolant.

B58101A802A operates in temperature range of -40 °C and +200 °C and is available in nominal resistances from 2 k ohms to 1.4 M ohms. The temperature tolerance is rated at ±0.5 °C at the rated temperature. The new temperature sensors are lead-free and RoHS-compatible. The sensor element itself is qualified to AEC-Q200. The diameter of sensor head is 5.4 mm
