New PMC, PCI, cPCI/PXI and PCI Express MIL-STD-1553 cards from DDC

Data Device Corporation (DDC) has released the BU-672 Series, a new line of PMC, PCI, cPCI/PXI and PCI Express MIL-STD-1553 cards designed using new AceXtreme 1553 core. The cards are available with up to four dual-redundant 1553 channels. These cards feature multi-function capability that allows the 553 Bus Controller (BC), up to 31 Remote Terminals (RT), and Bus Monitor (MT) to run concurrently per channel.

The AceXtreme Multi-Function series also includes a test and simulation toolkit. The test features in this toolkit include:
--Reconstruction (Replay) mode, allowing users to record 1553 data and replay it onto the bus in real-time
--Error injection
--Variable amplitude (PCI-Express only)
--Low inter-message gap support

These new cards use a API that can be used for test/embedded cards and components, so that software developed for any DDC 1553 solution can be reused in all other applications. Software development time can be further simplified by utilizing DDC's BusTrACEr software's one-click application code generation feature.

DDC also offers the dataSIMS Bus Analysis and Simulation software package for those users wanting to create a complete environment of simulation, acquisition, display, and storage of real-time data. dataSIMS simulates and concurrently monitors multiple mixed MIL-STD-1553 and ARINC 429 data streams, and has the ability to bring in any other I/O. Interface Control Document (ICD) databases, describing avionics messages, can easily be imported into dataSIMS projects and used to create custom engineering-unit conversions and simulated data based on specific events. A LabVIEW support package is also available, providing intuitive, high-level virtual instruments and samples.

"By creating a common design, development, and test platform with powerful monitoring, simulation, and test functionality, DDC's new Multi-Function cards streamline 1553 development into one seamless, efficient work flow, saving significant time, cost, and effort ", stated Sean Sleicher, DDC's Data Bus Marketing Manager.
