High flash memory density MCUs from ST with up to 512 Kbytes on-chip

STMicroelectronics has launched the STM32 Value High-Density microcontrollers. The new series includes MCUs with embedded flash memory of 16 to 512 Kbytes of embedded Flash memory and employ the 32-bit core for higher performance. The STM32 MCUs offer 140 pin- and software-compatible variants covering a wide price/performance spectrum and offering options such as built-in USB support. These products are aimed at constantly increasing in performance to cope with progressively larger and more complex software applications. STM32 Value High Density devices also target professional applications, such as metering, motor control and user-interface control in industrial and medical equipment.

"The latest STM32 Value High Density devices build on the STM32 Value Line to set an even more exciting price-competitive entry point to 32-bit microcontroller design," said Michel Buffa, General Manager of ST's Microcontroller Division. "Cost-sensitive applications can now benefit from Flash memory density as high as 512 Kbytes for program and data storage, as well as extra integrated features."

The new line of MCUs offer an external memory interface, which can address many external code or data memory. The interface also supports a parallel interface mode for LCD screens with embedded controllers. These MCUs provide extra package options, with up to 112 I/O pins thus helping di designers manage more intensive communications between the microcontroller and other system components, such as sensors, status indicators, wireless subsystems and USBng dddd ports.
