Fujitsu adds new member to its USB 3.0-SATA bridge IC family

Fujitsu has announced another member of its USB 3.0-SATA bridge IC family, the MB86E50. This IC has passed USB-IF compliance testing and is now certified as compliant with the SuperSpeed USB (USB 3.0) standard by the USB Implementers Forum. The certification of the MB86E50 brings Fujitsu to three certified USB 3.0-SATA bridge ICs along with along with the MB86C30 and MB86C31.

The MB86E50 supports RAID 0 (striping) and RAID 1 (mirroring) as well as JBOD (“just a bunch of disks”) and dual LUN configurations. The MB86E50 is suggested for RAID storage applications that use external hard disk or solid state drives.
