Vortex86DX chip based single board computer from Advantech

Advantech has unveiled the PCM-9343, a 3.5" Single BoardComputer (SBC) designed with the ultra low power DM&P Vortex86DX 1.0 GHz SoC in a compact 3.5" (146 x 102 mm) fanless design. The SBC design consumes 4 to 6 Watts of power. PCM-9343 SBC is suitable for application in regular and rugged environments and is built with 100% solid capacitors, TG-150 PCB standard, soldered onboard memory, and provides -40°~85°C temperature support. PCM-9343 supports PC/104(ISA), rich I/O, and complete OS. The PCM-9343 is suitable for applicatoin in hazardous environments such as transportation, mission critical and industrial control systems, and diverse outdoor applications.

The PCM-9343 is based on x86 architecture. The x86 architecture provides better software support than RISC chips. This SBC provides DM&P's Vortex86DX 1.0 GHz and SMI SM712 graphic chip platform with Floating Point Unit (FPU) support thus enabling it to run most x86 applications. The total height of the SBC including the fanless heatsink is only 24 mm. This device supports 512 MB of DDR2 soldered onboard memory. PCM-9343 supports legacy PC/104 (ISA) and ISA DMA mode, which are essential interfaces in certain applications for electrical power stations and factory automation. This SBC also provides backward compatibility support for DOS applications and supports USB hot plugging. PCM-9343 supports various OS such as DOS, Windows CE 5.0/ CE 6.0, Windows XP/ XP Embedded, Linux Ubuntu 9.10/10.04, and QNX Neutrino 6.3.2. This SBC comes with Advantech's Software API (SUSI). SUSI includes tools and utilities for I2C, watchdog timer, panel backlight on/off, brightness control, and GPIO amongst others.
