240 Amp MOSFETs from IR with on resistance of 2.6 milli ohms for automotive apps

International Rectifier has expanded its family of automotive qualified power MOSFETs featuring low on-state resistance (RDS(on)) for Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) platforms, micro and full hybrid vehicle platforms

These MOSFETs deliver RDS(on) of 2.6 mOhm at 55 V, the family of devices ranges from 40V to 100V and includes the first 75 V offerings. These MOSFETs are sugessted for for use in 24V truck systems, many of these devices feature the new revised maximum current ratings of up to 240 A in a D2Pak-7P and 195 A in a D2Pak.

"With the assurance of IR's heritage in MOSFET technology and robust manufacturing, testing and qualification processes, the expansion of our family of dedicated devices offers customers an even wider choice of voltages and packages for their automotive design," said Benjamin Jackson, product manager, IR's Automotive Products Business Unit.

IR says it's automotive MOSFETs are subject to dynamic and static part average testing combined with 100% automated wafer level visual inspection as part of IR's automotive quality initiative targeting zero defects. AEC-Q101 qualification requires that there is no more than a 20% change in RDS(on) after 1,000 temperature cycles of testing. IR says that in extended testing, IR's new AU Bill of Materials demonstrated a maximum RDS(on) shift of less than 10 percent at 5,000 temperature cycles.

The new devices are qualified according to AEC-Q101 standards and feature an environmentally friendly, lead-free and RoHS compliant Bill of Materials.
