TI adds softwares, tools and training to MCU digital power portfolio

Texas Instruments has expanded its TMS320C2000 microcontroller (MCU) digital power portfolio of software, tools and training. TI says that its C2000 Piccolo MCUs provide flexibility to adapt to varying power supply models, integration to reduce component count and programmability to ensure efficiency across the full power load range. More than 25 free, modular digital power software blocks have been added to controlSUITE software. TI's PFC Developer's Kit includes all the hardware and software needed to quickly implement digital power factor correction (PFC). They also provide in-depth training designed to give developers with all experience levels a solid foundation of digital power theory and extensive hands-on labs. It is suitable for applications such as servers, telecom rectifiers, lighting, renewable energy, and hybrid and electric vehicles.

The features of the controlSUITE digital power libraries are:
1. It offers free, open source and modular digital power libraries thus allowing developers to change control techniques in software.
2. Consists of over 25 digital power software blocks optimized for both the Piccolo C28x core and control law accelerator (CLA).
3. Installation with automatic upgrade option can be performed using the controlSUITE software.
4. The controlSUITE Desktop, GUI provide improved software and supporting documentation interface.

The features of Piccolo MCU PFC Developer's Kit are:

1. Provides hardware and software for two phase interleaved power factor correction.
2. Consists of single F28027 Piccolo MCU with integrated analog, PWMs and other control-oriented peripherals.
3. Programmability provides flexibility to adjust control parameters.
4. Isolated JTAG for real-time debug provides safety against high voltage.

The features of the Digital Power three-Day workshop by Biricha Digital Power Ltd are:
1. This workshop is designed for analog power and embedded systems engineers with all levels of programming experience.
2. Starts with introductory theory, C2000 Piccolo MCU overview, step-by-step design of digital power supply control loops and digital slope compensation.
3. Then it progresses to design labs to perform tasks such as implementation of multiple voltage mode digital controllers and advanced digital peak current mode control

Price:
The new Piccolo High Voltage PFC Developer's Kit is priced at US$249.
The Digital Power Multi-Day Workshop by Biricha Digital Power Ltd. is priced at US$1,995.
