12-/10-/8-bit ADCs from Maxim consumes max. power of only 9.9mW
Maxim has unveiled the MAX11102 family of low-power 12-/10-/8-bit ADCs. This family consists of nine devices available in different resolution (12-/10-/8-bit), channel-count (2/1), and conversion-rate (3/2Msps) configurations. It is designed to extend battery life in portable electronic applications. These devices offer a maximum power consumption of only 9.9mW, which Maxim says is 32% lower than the competition. These ADCs can operate from a supply rail down to 2.2V. Fast wake-up and shutdown times enable the ADCs to operate in burst mode thus minimizing the amount of time spent in active power mode. These ADCs are suggested for portable/battery-powered electronics, automotive designs, solar-powered systems, and system-monitoring applications.
This family of ADCs yields a SNR of 70.5dB and SINAD of 70dB. The digital interface operates from 1.5V to 3.6V, allowing direct connection to a wide range of SPI-based host devices without a level shifter. These devices are pin-for-pin compatible between devices thus allowing designers to change resolution without redesigning their board or control software.
Operating temperature range: -40°C to +125°C
Price: starts at US$0.85
