Chip inductor from Murata support USB3.0 SuperSpeed Signals

Murata has unveiled the DLP11TB series of 1210 size chip-type common mode choke coils. They are designed to reduce radiation noise in electronic products and equipment. These coils use Murata's film inductor forming technology to attain an improved cut-off frequency in the transmission characteristics and support USB 3.0 SuperSpeed signals.

Chip common mode choke coils are used in the bases of the connector enabling USB interfaces to connect between peripheral devices to PCs. It aids in minimizing noise radiated from the cables. The development of SSD has led to the formulation of the USB3.0 standard. The new USB3.0 standard has added the SuperSpeed mode, enabling data to be transmitted at speeds up to 5 Gbps.

Some of the key features of the DLP11TB series are:
1. Its micromachining technology is enhanced using Murata's thin film processes and therefore boosting the cut-off frequency in the transmission characteristics of the choke coils to a high 8 GHz or more.
2. Small size of 1.25 x 1.0 mm and therefore suggested for mobile devices.
3. High common mode impedance (80ohms at 100 MHz).
4. Matches characteristic impedance of 90ohms of the USB3.0 standard.
5. Noise outflow during conversion from differential mode to common mode is low and the mode conversion characteristic is given by -40 dB at 2.5 GHz.
6. It is suggested for PCs with USB3.0 interface and PC peripheral devices.
