Multifunctional power IC for driving notebook LCD panels
Maxim has unveiled the MAX17117, a power solution for gate-on-array (GOA) notebook LCD panels. The MAX17117 consists of a 7-channel, high-voltage scan driver for the TFT panel gate drivers, a MOSFET boost converter for AVDD supply, a 350mA LDO and a high-speed operational amplifier for LCD backplane bias. It uses Maxim's high-voltage BiCMOS process that enables the integration of scan drivers with the LCD power supply. The scan driver features a gate-shading function to drive the GOA panel.
The MAX17117 consists of an integrated MOSFET boost converter thus eliminating the need for an external MOSFET. It also utilizes a high-current operational amplifier that offers slew rates 40V/µs(typ) and bandwidth of 16MHz. The seven scan driver outputs swing 40V (max) between +35V (max) and -15V (min) to drive the gate capacitance of the LCD backplane.
