Octal high-voltage protected PZT and CMUT buffers from Maxim

Maxim has introduced the MAX4805 and MAX4805A, octal high-voltage-protected buffers for piezoelectric transducers (PZT) and capacitive micromachined ultrasound transducers (CMUT), respectively. The buffers' provide a low voltage noise of 2.1nV/ and current noise of 2.0pA/ The MAX4805/MAX4805A are suggested for ultrasound imaging and industrial flaw-detection probes, where board space, power consumption, noise immunity, and thermal performance are the main concern.

The MAX4805/MAX4805A consists of 8 low-noise amplifiers (LNAs) in a non-inverting configuration. The LNAs are controlled by an enable input. These buffers have an in-built LNA high voltage protection, which is activated once the Tx voltage exceeds ±2.7.

The MAX4805 has a typical voltage gain of 6dB, input-current noise of 2pA/ and input impedance of 3.8kohms.

The MAX4805A has a typical voltage gain of 9dB, input current noise of 1.7pA/ and input impedance of 9.1kohms.

Both ICs operate from dual supply voltages of +2V and +5V.

Package: small, 5mm x 5mm, 32-pin TQFN

Operating temperature range: 0degC to +70degC.

Price: starts at US$23.54.
