Blue ray discs of mammoth 50 GB capacity available from TDK

TDK started shipping recordable blue rays discs of 50 GB capacity coded BD-R50. Now the data backup is made easier by limiting backup to lesser number of disks. Disk can be stored or handled without a cartridge, this means the surface can with stand scratches and other touch related formations on the surface. The movies buffs can record four hours of high definition video on a single disk.

The cost now is $47 per single piece. Company plans to launch rewritable disk of same capacity during 1st quarter of 2007 at a price of $59.99.
