Intel’s WIMAX SOC supports both fixed and mobile networks
The intel’s new WIMAX device “connection 2250” is termed as industry’s first dual –mode baseband chip. This chip compliance with both IEEE802.16-2004 and IEEE 802.16E-2005( both fixed and mobile). Intel says, the “d” mode deployed WIMAX customer premises equipment can be upgraded to “e” mode through quick wireless software upgrade. Motorola, Alcatel, Siemens, are some of the telecom companies using this device in their equipment.
