Intersil launched new power controllers for Intel’s Core Duo and Core 2 Duo mobile microprocessors.
Intersil’s new power controllers ISL6260C, ISL6261A, and ISL6262A are exclusively made for Intel’s Core duo mobile processor. These controllers can sense and report the power dissipated to the CPU, which helps in optimizing the power consumption resulting in improved efficiency and faster transient response. Intersil press release says high tolerance inductor don’t necessarily hurt the performance, so it gives option to use low cost inductors. These ICs can adopt to active and sleep mode of CPU and optimize the power usage.
These are exclusively designed for Intel’s Santa Rosa platform and has following other features.
Precision core voltage regulator with enhanced load line accuracy and 0.5% system accuracy over temperature
User-programmable switching frequency
Microprocessor voltage identification 7-bit VID input
Supports multiple current sensing approaches
Differential remote voltage sensing
CPU power monitor
