Mathstar releases to market, the 2nd generation of Field Programmable Object Arrays (FPOA).

Mathstar’s new Arrix family of FPOAs operate up to a frequency of 1GHz and pack an internal RAM of 228 KB. Here the term ‘object’ is the logic functional block such as ALU, register etc.. There are 256 ALU objects, 64 MAC objects inside this single device. The I/Os in the chip can transmit the data to a max speed of 32 Gbps. Mathstar says in terms of performance; 1FPOA = 4 FPGAs. These devices highly suitable for machine vision and such complex video and image processing applications where complex artificial intelligence algorithms are involved.
