New power switch IC for LCDs from Fairchild Semiconductor saves heatsink
Fairchild Semiconductor has released a new power switch with necessary power control circuit for engineers designing LCD monitors, TVs, set-top boxes and DVD players. The FSFM300 offers 30 Watts handling power switch in an 8-DIP package, which can perform without a heat sink. FSFM300 packs pulse-width-modulator (PWM) and an avalanche-rugged SenseFET MOSFET. This SenseFET offer a low on-resistance of 2.2 Ohms. This device replaces Fairchild's FSQ0465RS
FSFM300 uses burst mode protection for a low standby power consumption of 70~140mW depending on the selection of passive components at no load and 265 VAC. This power switch device offer protection features such as over voltage protection, over load protection, advanced over current protection and internal thermal shutdown to shut down the power supply safely in the event of a failure or abnormal condition.
The other key specs/features of thus device are,
Precision Fixed Operating Frequency: 67kHz
Internal Startup Circuit
Auto-Restart Mode
Under-Voltage Lockout (UVLO) with Hysteresis
Low Operating Current: 2.5mA
Built-in Soft-Start of 15ms
