16-channel, gamma-correction reference system with integrated NVRAM

Maxim Integrated Products has launched 16-channel, gamma-correction reference system with integrated nonvolatile (NV) memory. The MAX9669 holds 16 programmable gamma-correction outputs and one voltage reference for VCOM adjustment for TFT-LCDs. The MAX9669 can eliminate multiple discrete components including a digital variable resistor, VCOM amplifier, gamma buffers, resistor strings, and a high-voltage linear regulator. The high-voltage linear regulator is not needed because the on-chip, 10-bit DAC contains a lowpass filter that reduces the horizontal line frequency noise by 50dB. Additionally, the MAX9669 has nonvolatile, multiple-time programmable (MTP) memory that supports up to 100 write operations of gamma and VCOM values to the chip, thus eliminating the need for external EEPROM. The MAX9669 is ideal for LCD-based TVs, notebook PCs, and monitors.

The MAX9669 is available in a 5mm x 5mm, 28-pin TQFN-EP package. This device is fully specified over the -40°C to +85°C extended temperature range. Prices start at $1.80 (1000-up, FOB USA).
