ESD protected logic level translators for memory card apps
Intersil's new voltage logic level translators support a data rate of 100 Megabit/second and offer high-ESD protection. The new ISL3034E and ISL3035E are six-channel, auto-direction sensing, bi-directional voltage level translators that ease the interface between mixed supply voltage peripherals and controllers.
The applications requiring this type of translators are 3.3V SD, mini SD, memory stick and multimedia card applications that require I/O signal translation to the industry's latest low-voltage system controllers.
The ISL3036E is the four-channel translator IC with same specs.
The technical features include,
ESD rating of IEC61000-4-2 +/-15kV Air Gap, +/-9kV contact, and +/-15kV HBM on all input, output and I/O lines.
The new voltage level translator (VLTs) operate with VCC (SD card supply) voltages from +2.2V to +3.6V and VL voltages from +1.35V to +3.2V.
Each I/O channel is pulled up to VCC or VL by an internal 30µA current source, allowing the VLTs to be driven by either push-pull or open-drain drivers.
The ISL3034E and ISL3036E have enable (EN) input to place the IC into a low-power shutdown mode when the input is driven low.
All versions feature an automatic shutdown mode that places the part in the same low power state when VCC is less than VL.
The ISL3035E features a clock return output that returns the same signal applied to the clock VL input, but with a delay that better mimics the timing of data read back from a memory card.
