SiS is sampling new HDTV Processor targeting Taiwan's digital TV Market

Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) is sampling a new HDTV processor, SiS217H to target emerging digital TV market in Taiwan.

The key technical features and specification of this System on Chip (SoC) class media processor chip are,

1. Has 226MHz Universal Video Decoding Engine (UVDE).
2. Handle high definition digital video standards such as H.264/AVC HP@L3.0/3.2/4.1 MPEG2 MP@ML/HL streams.
3. Feature latest Digital Native Video Engine (DNVE) to enhance the picture quality
4. On the audio front, this device has Universal Audio Decoding Engine (UADE) to decode HE-AAC Stereo (level 2), MPEG L1/L2, AAC-LC, and, and AC3 complaint digital audio streams.
5. Provide audio quality enhancing functions such as 5-band equalizer, Virtual Surround, TruSurroundXT, and TruVolume technologies.
6. The other built-in functions include 3 Dimensional Comb filter based NTSC decoder, the Multistandard ATV sound decoder, the Transport Stream DeMux , embedded audio processor with 24 bit Audio codec, the 170MHz Triple ADC, the HDMI 1.3 compliant receiver with CEC capability.

Offer two ports of USB 2.0 interface for watching and hearing picture, video and audio from external flash drives through the support of built-in H/W accelerated JPEG viewer, & MP3 player. USB ports can also be used for downloading media streams from the PC through the external USB wireless or Ethernet dangle device, respectively.

SiS217H with Dual-RISC processors handles applications such as the DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) home-networking media- shared & media-played scenario, or the Pause Live-TV or PVR recording and playing scenario.

Taiwan has launched HiHD terrestrial broadcasting based trial programs a year ago covering the metropolitan areas of Taipei and Kaohsiung and soon will be expanded into other area of Taiwan.

Mass volumes of SiS217H are expected in July 2009.
