16 -bit delta sigma ADC of size 3mm X 3mm
You have space of only 3mm X 3mm on your PCB for a 16-bit ADC. Then check this new ADC from Linear Technology for your space constrained design.
Linear's new LTC2460 and LTC2462 are 16-bit delta sigma ADCs with a built-in precision reference packed in a small 3mm x 3mm DFN package. The integrated reference (2ppm/°C Typ, 10ppm/°C Max) saves your design from external reference, another benefit for your space-constrained application. LTC2460 and LTC2462 are suggested for remote sensor battery-powered applications and industrial sensors monitoring temperature or pressure.
The key technical specification and other features are,
1. Operates from a single 2.7V to 5.5V supply and draws 2.5 milli Amps of current.
2. Can measure single-ended (LTC2460) or differential (LTC2462) sensors via an SPI serial interface. 3. With its internal 1.25V reference, the LTC2460 can measure a single-ended input from 0V to 1.25V, while the LTC2462 is capable of measuring a differential input up to ±1.25V.
4. Achieve 16-bit DC performance of 1LSB (Typ) integral nonlinearity error, 2.2uVRMS transition noise and 0.25% gain error (max).
5. Both the ADCs have an internal oscillator
6. Operate up to 60 conversions per second, making it easy to measure temperature, pressure, voltage, or other low-frequency sensor signals.
7. When not converting, the ADC slips into shutdown mode drawing supply current of <1.5mA (max).
In sleep mode ADC draws less than 2uA (max).
8. The LTC2460/LTC2462 also incorporate a proprietary input sampling network to reduce the dynamic input current to less than 50nA.
9. Available both in commercial and industrial temperature grade versions.
