Agilent's new test solutions and services for VoIP, LTE and other wireless broadband

Agilent has announced new test solutions and services for wireless and wired communication industry.

Addressing the testing needs of growing VoIP based communication networks, Agilent has introduced an enhanced NgN Analysis System (NgNAS) with increased capabilities in handling large volume of complex VoIP traffic, including traffic crossing IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) infrastructures. Agilent has also added real-time voice quality monitoring feature.

Agilent's NgNAS keeps detailed call records for every call as well as statistics based on key performance indicators (KPIs). It does this network-wide, all of the time, and regardless of scale. Agilent claims, the solution provides the fastest problem diagnosis and resolution in the industry.

On LTE technology, Agilent to present three technical sessions and exhibit its LTE test application solutions at the fifth Informa LTE World Summit, Berlin, Germany, May 18-20. The technical sessions are:
1. "MIMO Mia! -- What the Standards Didn't Tell You about MIMO;"
2. "Honey, Who Shrunk My Mega Bits -- Practical Tips on Measuring Application Throughput in the Real World;" and
3. "Doing Less with Moore - Challenges and Opportunities for Future Standards."

Session highlights of "Doing Less with Moore - Challenges and Opportunities for Future Standards," an LTE Summit workshop track on standardization presented by Moray Rumney, include:
1. Examining trends in standardization
2. Growing fragmentation and complexity, diminishing returns
3. The growing gap between conformance testing and real life operation
4. Opportunities for standards in an uncertain world
5. Integration of macrocell and small cell technology
6. Can femtocells do it all or do we need Wi-Fi

Agilent has also published book with title "LTE and the Evolution to 4G Wireless -- Design and Measurement Challenges" which will be available at the conference.

Along with the above announcements, another communication test solution announced by Agilent is the extension of its Triple Play Analyzer (TPA) capabilities to various mobile networks, including UMTS, WiMAX and LTE. Agilent claims, its TPA is the only solution that combines voice, video and data services-monitoring over mobile networks in a single instrument, which eliminates the extra expense of buying a product for each service.

Agilent has also introduced its Multiplay Performance Manager (MPM) to enable distributed monitoring of IP Video streams across an entire network. With MPM, multiple TPA probes - including TPA software installed on PC-based mobile stations - can feed data from different network locations to Agilent's QoS Manager for an aggregated, real-time view based on key performance indicators (KPIs) and for correlated, end-to-end analysis.
