600 Watts power range resonant controller for plasma and LCD TVs

Fairchild Semiconductor has launched a new resonant controller IC FAN7621. The FAN7621 packs high-side gate-drive circuit, a current-controlled oscillator, frequency- limit circuit and bunch of protection functions.
This device offers zero voltage switching (ZVS) technique to bring down switching noise by at least 5 dB. The protection features available in this IC includes, over voltage protection (OVP), over current protection (OCP), abnormal over current protection (AOCP) and internal thermal shutdown.

The advantages of this device as claimed by Fairchild includes,
1. No pulse transformer is required
2. Require only a small sized and less expensive EMI filter.
3. Efficiency is up by10 percent and for applications such as PDP-TVs, efficiency reaches 97 percent.

The broad range of suggested applications cover LCD and plasma display panel (PDP) Televisions, servers, game consoles and LED lighting applications.
