Improved VGA multiplexer IC with low on-capacitance and on-resistance

Maxim Integrated Products has added a new member to its VGA multiplexer IC devices. The MAX4885E integrates high-bandwidth analog switches and level-translating buffers to implement a complete 1:2 multiplexer for VGA signals. The switch in this IC offers low on-capacitance of 6 pico farads and on-resistance of 5 ohms and supports bandwidths up to 1 GHz. This device provides switching for RGB, display data channel (DDC). The MAX4885E is improved version of the Maxim older device MAX4885.

Maxim claims, the MAX4885E delivers 2x more bandwidth than any existing solution and provides extended ±15kV (Human Body Model) and ±8kV (Contact Discharge) ESD protection. This device is suitable for notebook computers, desktops, servers, digital projectors, and consumer video applications.
