NEC launches 8-bit microcontrollers with high current drivers
NEC Electronics has introduced the two new 8-bit All Flash general-purpose microcontrollers (MCUs) that are suitable in applications such as LED (Light Emitting Diode) lighting, home electric cookers and battery chargers. The new devices combine NEC Electronics' All Flash 78K0/KB2 microcontrollers with integrated constant high current drivers in a single package. The part numbers differ according to their flash memory capacity; µPD78F8024 offers 8 KB and µPD78F8025 offers 32 KB of flash memory.
The other key features of µPD78F8024 MCU and µPD78F8025 MCU are,
1. These MCUs integrate of A/D converters, and I2C and UART interfaces
2. Operated from a wide supply voltage range of 9V to 38V.
3. Both chips can be used in boost or buck topologies.
Pricing and Availability
Samples of NEC Electronics' µPD78F8024 and µPD78F8025 devices are available now, starting at US$5 per unit. Mass production is slated to begin in 2010, with expected monthly mass production of 4,000,000 units. (Prices and availability are subject to change without notice.)
