Lithium-ion battery monitor IC with current sensing resistor
Maxim Integrated Products has released DS2741, a current monitor/accumulator IC for lithium-ion (Li+) applications. Maxim claims, this IC is the industry's first battery-monitoring IC to incorporate a high side, current-sense resistor. Measuring 3mm x 3mm in size, this device connects directly to battery to measure the battery parameters to control the charging, discharging and to display the battery capacity. The targeted applications cover handheld wireless products such as multimedia players, mobile phones, PDAs, digital cameras and automotive/telematics applications.
The temperature sensor is integrated inside the device to measures temperatures over a temp range of -20°C to +70°C with a resolution of ±1°C.
The device consumes 60µA (typ) while its in active mode and 1µA in sleep mode.
Package: 3mm x 3mm, 14-pin TDFN package
Price: Each at $1.45 for 1K pieces (FOB USA).
