Smart-Card interface IC at low price and low power consumption

Maxim Integrated Products has launched DS8023, a low-cost, smart-card interface IC for applications such as billing terminals, set-top boxes, and wherever smart-card reader is employed.
The special features of this device are, low power consumption and the price. When the smart card is inactive, DS8023 draws a current of only 10nA.

As a complete interface for smart-card communication, this device performs level translation between a host microcontroller and a 5V, 3V, or 1.8V smart card. DS8023 provides ±8kV (min) ESD protection (IEC) to protect the card while inserting and removal. DS8023 meets ISO 7816 and EMV Level I specifications.

The DS8023 is designed to be an easy replacement upgrade for parts with higher power consumption and no stop mode, such as the TDA8024 and the ST8024.

Operating Temp Range: -40°C to +85°C
