Renesas unveiled new 32 bit MCUs with enhanced clock speed and performance

Operating at 200 MHz and with processing power of 480 MIPS, the new flash microcontrollers called SH7216 group from Renesas targets motor control, AC servos, industrial automation and any other such power electronics applications.
The SH7216 group consists of 36 devices in 12 product groups that differ by SRAM/Flash memory capacity, package, and also by functions like FPU (Floating point processing unit) and Ethernet functions.

The common key functions and features available in this microcontroller family are,

1. Feature on-chip single-cycle access RAM and offer faster read/write access of data from internal flash memory.
2. With the adaptation of SH2A-FPU core better real-time control performance is expected from these devices.

3. Built in peripheral and communication functions include Ethernet, CAN 2, and USB2.0, full speed.
4. Provide two PWM timers (MTU2 and MTU2S) for precision control of multi-axis motors and servomotors.
5. Feature 12-bit Analog to Digital Converters (ADC) with conversion time of 1 µs.
6. Other built in functions include data transfer controller (DTC), Direct Memory Access Controller (DMAC) and data storage flash memory (FLD) to hold status information when power is not applied.
This FLD incorporates background operation (BGO) functionality that enables data to be written at the same time a program is executing and allows data writes without slower program execution, making it ideal for backup applications and the like.
7. These devices operate from a supply voltage of single 3.3 V.

Package: Available in 176-pin LQFP (24 x 24 mm), 176-pin LQFP (20 x 20 mm), and 176-pin BGA (13 x 13 mm) packages.
