New integrated set-top box platform from NXP
NXP Semiconductor has released to market a new STB box platform called STB150 system solution for digital cable TV services market. The NXP STB150 is made up of a new single-chip CX2448x MPEG-2 decoder and QAM Demodulator for DVB-C reception with a TDA18252HN silicon tuner with software stack. The CX2448x embeds 32-bit ARM926 processing core.
The notable features of this platform include, Electronic Program Guide (EPG) and Video-on-demand, digital video recorder (DVR), and integrated USB port that can connect to external mass storage devices.
India's Digicable, the cable distribution company has adopted this solutions. Here's the comments from Digicable's CTO Mr. Asif Khan.
