Agilent addresses fiber optic T&M market with a pair of new products

Agilent has announced the availability of new test tools for fiber optic communications market. The two new product announcements made are,

1. Photonic application software suite:
Agilent has unveiled a photonic application software suite supporting research and manufacturing of optical components and modules for the next generation network (NGN).

The features of this software suite are,
1. Supports high measurement speed with increased device throughput.
2. Feature special functions such as data-export filters and special software interfaces
3. Offer an easy-to-configure report generator to documents measurement results.
4. Supports spectral IL/PDL test on broadband components and filters.
5. Supports measurements on multiport components like Mux/Demux and splitters.
6. Feature Transverse Electrical/Transverse Magnetic loss to optimize the design of optical components.

Agilent's N7700A includes a free-of-charge viewer software package that allows viewing and analyzing stored measurement data.

The N7700A photonic application suite prices $2000 is available via an Internet download and can be used immediately after installation through an initial trial period.

2. PXIT 10G Digital Communication Analyzer (DCA)

Agilent's new PXIT 10G Digital Communication Analyzer (DCA) offers test solutions for the optical transceiver manufacturers who are expanding their test lines with increased throughput.

Agilent is also offering Passive Optical Network (PON) filter rate options for PON transceiver manufacturers to use the PXIT family of products to test PON transceivers.


The smart post processing features and benefits of this product include:
1. Faster data acquisition rate
2. Ability to capture multiple sets of eye diagrams under different test conditions and process the data during downtime.
3. Shorter test times by a factor of 10 to 15 times for some DCA tests

The Agilent N2100B 10G PXIT DCA can be ordered now at a starting price of $35,000.

Agilent is to demonstrate both the products at exclusive optical communication event, the Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition and The National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (OFC/NFOEC) going to be held at San Diego, California from Mar 24 -26.
