New magnetic sheets with high permeability for mobile phones and portables

Japan based TDK has released a new magnetic sheet with high magnetic permeability of 180 (µ) and high fire resistance.

Phones, cameras and such portables with on-board noise generating components can use this sheet to shield the rest of the circuit or components from the noise generating devices. The use of magnetic sheets made of soft magnetic materials that are capable of absorbing noise and converting it to thermal energy can prevent noise from leaking outside devices and prevent harmful effects on other boards and components from internal reflection.

This new magnetic sheet called IRJ17 series attenuate the noise reflected from ICs and flexible printed circuit boards. These new sheets are RoHS compliant.

IRJ17 is made up of soft magnetic material with polymer material, and employ magnetic powder to gain those high permeability characteristics.
