Stereo amplifiers with 3D audio capabilities Deliver 2.8W per channel

ST Microelectronics introduced the TS4999, a two-channel, 2.8W class-D stereo audio amplifier IC featuring 3D audio effects that improves sound quality from portable equipment.

Some of the features are:

1. It's 3-dimensional audio creates the effect of wide channel separation.
2. The selectable 3D modes allow the audio image to be focused behind, above or below the listener, which can also improve performance and comfort for headphone users.
3. Using class-D operation, it can achieve up to 90% efficiency,
4. Reduced heat dissipation and high power density.
5. Low minimum supply voltage of 2.4V
6. A 10nA power-saving mode also minimizes battery drain when the audio features are not being used.
7. It delivers up to 2.8 Watts per channel into 4-Ohm speaker loads and achieves distortion of 1%.
8. Its high power-supply rejection ratio also prevents power-supply noise from entering the audio signal.
