Electric double layer supercapacitor with lowest ESR
TDK Corporation is sampling Electric Double Layer Capacitor (EDLC), which has the lowest ESR in the industry for its size. The new capacitor measuring 20x20 mm in size, will be displayed at APEC event going to be held this week in Washington D.C.
This supercapacitor features double layer of charged particles formed on activated carbon coated electrodes in an electrolyte. As a result, high capacitance is achieved due to the large electrode surface area and thin charge-bearing layer.
TDK's EDLC Supercapacitors are made using technologies such as high-quality film coating and process control, in combination with extensive mass production capabilities for high-density energy storage devices.
Other features:
1. Short charging time
2. Long life
3. Clean materials
4. Safe
5. Laminated formation for thin form-factor
Key specifications:
1. EDLC272020-501-2F-50
2. Nominal Dimensions 20 × 20 × 2.7 mm
3. Nominal Capacitance 500 mF
4. Nominal Impedance (AC 1kHz) 50 mO
5. Nominal ESR (DC) 75 mO
6. Operating Temperature -30~+70 °C
7. Terminal Lead Material Aluminum (with Nickel tip for ease of soldering)
TDK's new EDLC supercapacitor is suitable for High Power LED Flash in camera, phones and other such camera equipped portables. In these kind of products, the characteristics of the Supercapacitor enable the use of the latest high current LEDs to produce camera flash illumination of similar performance to existing Xenon flash
solutions, but without the need for high voltage components and complex charging circuits. Other applications are Pulsed Energy Storage, Power Loss Assist and Battery
