16-bit flash microcontrollers with LCD controller/driver
NEC Electronics has developed 12 new 16-bit microcontrollers with on-chip liquid crystal display driver/controller, optimized for handheld healthcare diagnostic instruments such as blood glucose meters, building utility meters for the gas/water/electricity markets, and FA equipment.
Some of the key features of this microcontroller are:
1. These new All-Flash microcontrollers are equipped with 16-bit 78K0R CPU core
2. Inbuilt LCD controller/driver circuit
3. Inbuilt 12-bit A/D and 12-bit D/A converter
4. Inbuilt operational amplifiers
5. Inbuilt voltage reference that produces metrical voltage when using analog circuit
6. Employs a capacitor split technique that produces LCD drive voltages method by capacitor splitting VDD.
7. The capacitor split system produces LCD bias voltages without a wasted DC bias current, thereby cutting LCD drive current losses.
8. Standby operating current is reduced by 90 percent, to 1.2 ľA as compared to previous products.
9. 12 varieties of products: six kinds of 80-pin 78K0R/LF3 MCU, three kinds of 100-pin 78K0R/LG3, and three kinds of 128-pin 78K0R/LH3
Pricing: 128-pin 78K0R/Lx3 MCU with 128 KB of flash memory and 7 KB of RAM is
priced at 800 yen per unit.
Availability: Mass production of these new products is scheduled to begin in October
2009, and is expected to reach 1,000,000 units per month in 2010.
