Integrated PMIC with step-up & inverting DC-DC converters and LDO
Maxim Integrated Products introduced the MAX17065, integrated power-management IC (PMIC) that includes a step-up DC-DC converter, an inverting DC-DC converter, regulated positive and negative charge pumps, and a low-dropout linear regulator (LDO).
This PMIC integrates all power functions required for active-matrix, organic light-emitting diode (AM-OLED) displays. The MAX17065 thus provides solution for cell phones, digital still cameras, MP3 players, and other consumer products.
Some of the key features include:
1. Operating from a +2.3V to +4.5V input supply, the step-up converter provides a fixed +5.35V output with up to 94% efficiency.
2. The inverting converter features an adjustable, -0.5V to -5V output and is up to 83% efficient.
3. Each switching converter has a cycle-by-cycle current limit, selectable SKIP and forced-PWM modes, and a selectable switching frequency of 600kHz/1.2MHz.
4. The output voltage of the positive charge pump can be programmed between +5.5V and +9V,
5. The negative charge pump can be programmed between -0.5V and -5V.
6. The LDO provides a +1.9V output for loads up to 60mA.
7. Eliminates external power components by integrating synchronous rectifiers.
8. An I²C-compatible interface programs the switching frequency, operating mode, and current limit of the step-up and inverting converters, as well as the output voltages of the inverting converter and charge pumps.
9. Fully specified over the -40°C to +85°C extended temperature range.
Package: 28-pin TQFN package of size: 4mm x 4mm
Price: starts at $1.20 (1000-up, FOB USA).
