Three-channel RGB LED pixel drivers for operation up to 25V
ON Semiconductor, has expanded its line of constant-current, LDD (low dropout driver) products recently acquired from Catalyst Semiconductor, to include two new high-brightness RGB LED pixel drivers.
The CAT4103 and CAT4109 are three-channel, linear-based constant-current LED drivers for RGB LED pixel control in high-brightness, high-visual impact LED architectural lighting.
The features of these two devices are:
1. The CAT4103 is designed for high-end, multi-color, "intelligent" LED architectural lighting applications.
2. CAT4103 features a high-speed serial interface, which can support data rates up to 25 megahertz (MHz) and offers fully buffered data outputs & maintains data integrity over long distance, daisy-chained lighting systems.
3. The CAT4109 uses a parallel interface with each channel having a dedicated PWM control, making it ideal for the more conventional LED visual effects applications, such as color-mixing and accent architectural lighting.
4. Both the CAT4103 and CAT4109 support a wide range of LED constant current drive of up to 175 milliamp (mA) on each channel, with dropout levels down to 0.3 volt (V) (at 60 mA).
5. With voltage compliance levels of 25 V on each channel, these two drivers are capable of supporting RGB pixels with brightness power levels in excess of 10 watts.
