Low-cost, low-power dual-SCART video switches for set-top-box designs

Maxim Integrated Products introduced the MAX9655/MAX9656 low-power switches that support the video portion of dual-SCART, set-top-box designs. These devices integrate the filtering, switching, and amplification necessary for RGB and composite-video signals in set-top boxes to avoid the complexity.

The key features are,

1. The reconstruction filters on both devices have ±1dB pass-band flatness out to 9.5MHz and 47dB attenuation at 27MHz.
2. Both the devices operate from a single 3.3V supply and draw very little quiescent current.
3. The MAX9656 offers a low-power shutdown mode in which it consumes only 35µA.
4. Specified over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range.
5. The MAX9656 also allows users to select the source of the composite-video signal being sent to the VCR.
