16-bit analog-to-digital converter with 200 MSPS Speed from TI
Texas Instruments introduced 16-bit, single-channel, up to 200 mega samples per second (MSPS) analog-to-digital converter series; ADS548x.
The new series of ADCs provide faster speeds and high resolution together for high performance in wide-bandwidth, high-sensitivity applications.
The devices available in the new series are ADS5485, ADS5484, ADS5483, ADS5482, and ADS5481. Among these, ADS5485 provides the highest speed of 200MSPS, followed by 170MSPS for ADS5484, 135MSPS for ADS5483, 105MSPS for ADS5482 and ADS5481 with the lowest speed in the category of 80MSPS. In addition, TI offers a number of tools to simplify design.
The ADS5485 holds the features like,
1. It can achieve a SNR of 75 dBFS and a spurious-free dynamic range of 87 dBc for a 70-MHz input frequency.
2. It eases analog front-end design by incorporating a fully differential input buffer.
3. This buffer provides constant input impedance over input frequency and eliminates kickback from the ADC's track-and-hold structure to ensure consistent linearity of the signal.
4. Enables 16-bit resolution with up to 100-MHz bandwidth.
5. Improves transmit power amplifier linearization and efficiency combined with a digital pre-distortion algorithm, lowering total system cost.
6. Enables sampling of larger bandwidths in radar systems, resulting in enhanced tracking resolution and object discrimination.
7. Allows software-defined radios to implement a greater number of standards such as WiMAX, LTE and CDMA.
